Welcome to our Website.We are Saul and Zoe Johnson.We are lucky enough to have been owned by Newfoudlands since 2002 when Ella (Sparkybears Two shoes Among Piratebears)became our first.
We have not looked back since! The puppy is by far the cheapest purchase you will make when you decide to share your life with a Newf,the puppy wil be followed by purchases of a van,a caravan,wet suits,blasters to name but a few.You will also find most of your spare time will be taken up searhing for replacements of all the above,or visiting the local sadelry for the perfect tie out.Newf's for us are not pets,they are a way of life.

Two years after Ella we were all set for King Louie,a brown boy to join our home.This was sadly not meant to be,as at just a few days old Louie was crushed by his mother when she rolled over.Shortly after this disaster we were lucky enough to hear of a puppy at the Evanpark kennels,we were already a big fan of their dogs,such lovely faces.We were walking on air when Merlin (Evanpark Gandolf The Grey Among Piratebears)became our second Newf.
Merlin was an only puppy,a little grey bundle of joy . . . & now a huge grey bundle of joy!
As every Newf owner will know,you spend most of the puppy weeks panicing that your puppy dosen't do too much or hurt themselves.You are forever paranoid that there is a leg or hip problem of some kind.
Unforunatly with Merlin we were not just being paraniod.Merlin was diagnosed at 16 wks with Luxating Patella.It's not hereditary,and is very unusual in large breed dogs.The grove in the knee does not form correctly,which results in the knee cap popping out each time the dog walks.Its common in small breeds,but as the small dog has little weight to carry it can go unnoticed ... a newf is a different story!
We were told not to expect much from Merlin after his opp,he may never cock his leg,cart or swim.You can imagine how proud we are now,3 and a haf years on to have such a happy heathy boy.Merlin not only cocks his leg,he carts,swims and now even jumps from the boat! we are so very proud of our brave boy.
In July 2009 Merlin suffered from G.D.V (Gastric Dilatation Vulvulous - Bloat ).Lucky enough we caught the symptoms early enough so that Merlin got to the vets before shock had set in - giving him the best possible chance (More detail on the BLOAT page ).
As Merlin reached 3 and Ela 5 we deided to start looking for a new addtion,a brown girl to be a "mini" version of our Ella.Fate would again step in,a little grey girl was born at Evanpark and I could not resist!

Minnie (Evanpark Ghost Among Piratebears) truely is a "Minature version" of Ella and Merlin.Her Grandfather (Merrybear WIllenuim) is Ella's dad and her great grand mother (Watervalley Peggy Davies By Evanpark) is Merlin's Mum.
Already we can see trait's in her from both our Newf's plus her own little character growing too.
